128 Million Reasons To Be Excited About Southwest General’s Future

Middleburg Heights, OH (Oct. 6, 2011) – This past month, members of the Southwest General Health System Board of Trustees unanimously approved a $128 million capital investment construction project to secure the hospital’s place in the future of health care delivery in Northeast Ohio.

Phase One of the project will include the creation of a new, expanded Emergency Department, development of a new critical care unit and construction of a patient parking garage on the north side of the Main Campus. Phase One construction is anticipated to commence in May 2012 and accounts for $66 million of the total cost.

Phase Two will include the creation of a new patient bed tower with 100 private patient rooms, renovation of the current patient rooms into private rooms and creation of a new main entrance for the hospital. Board approval for Phase Two will be sought in the fall of 2012.

Completion of the entire project is slated for late 2015.
