Putting the Needs of Our Patients and Families First
When you're sick or injured, the last thing you want to do is wait in an Emergency Room. You also want to see a doctor quickly and don't want to keep repeating your story.
s
At Southwest General, we're changing the way patients receive emergency care with the new CareSTAT Treatment Process so that you tell your story only once, see a board-certified emergency medicine physician and physician assistant/nurse team within minutes of arrival and experience reduced wait times.
Some important points to note about CareSTAT include:
• Quick Registration collects only date of birth and Social Security Number to start the medical record.
• Within minutes of arrival, a physician and physician assistant/nurse team jointly assess the patient, eliminating the need for patients to retell their story to any other caregiver.
• Patients with severe illnesses or injuries go immediately to a bed in the Main Emergency Room. Patients with less severe conditions go the a new Rapid Assessment Area.
• Rapid Assessment patients are treated and released within 60 to 90 minutes, depending on what tests or procedures are needed.
• A dedicated discharge nurse makes sure that once patients are ready to go home, they not only receive the educaiton they need but also are processed quickly.
• With CareSTAT, the Waiting Room is designed for families, not patients.
s
Services and the new CareSTAT Treatment Process will help Southwest General to continue providing high quality patient care as well as a positive experience for patients and families.
For individuals suffering severe traumatic injuries, Southwest General’s Trauma Service is verified by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Committee on Trauma as a Level III trauma center. This verification recognizes that the Trauma Service has 24-hour, in-house coverage by highly specialized physicians and nurses prepared for the immediate treatment of the critically injured patient. At Southwest General, the entire spectrum of care, from the pre-hospital phase through rehabilitation, is established to address the continuum of needs for the injured patient.
In addition to hospital-based emergency and trauma services, Southwest General offers:
• Emergency Medical Services (EMS) training. For more information on training, call 440-816-4553.
