Southwest General's Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) Department offers a variety of services to help patients recover after an orthopedic injury, illness or surgery. PM&R services include Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and SportsMedicine among others.

LifeWorks of Southwest General
LifeWorks of Southwest General is a state-of-the-art fitness facility where degreed fitness and health care professionals can help you achieve new levels of health and well-being. For patients undergoing knee and/or hip replacement procedures, LifeWorks offers the following specially designed programs:
Hip and Knee Pre-Op Program
This exercise program is for patients scheduled to have hip or knee replacement surgery. It is designed to strengthen the supporting muscles of the hip or knee and the upper body to expedite rehabilitation and recovery. Participants receive a customized pre-surgery exercise plan designed by a LifeWorks fitness specialist, one-on-one 30-minute training appointments once a week, and full use of the LifeWorks center. The program offers four-week, eight-week or 12-week session options. Physician referral is required.
Fee: $139/12 weeks $96/8 weeks $50/4 weeks
Post-Therapy Hip/Knee Program
This exercise program is designed for patients who have completed joint replacement surgery and inpatient rehabiliation. It is designed to continue strengthening the supporting muscles of the hip or knee and the upper body to enhance well-being and ease daily activities. Participants receive a customized exercise program designed by a LifeWorks fitness specialist, one-on-one 30-minute training appointments once a week, and full use of the LifeWorks center. This is an eight-week program. Physician referral is required.
