Southwest General Health Center’s Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Spine Care Team offers
comprehensive evaluation and treatment of cervical, thoracic, lumbar or sacral spine problems.

 

Therapeutic Procedures
Therapists provide a multifaceted approach that may include any of the following techniques:

Stabilization Principle
Through the use of a therapeutic ball or mat exercises, patients learn to strengthen and stabilize their trunk to enable pain-free functioning at work or play.

McKenzie Approach
Specialized therapists implement a system of examination and treatment for patients suffering from mechanical spine pain.

Aquatic Therapy
A warm-water pool offers an ideal treatment for painful arthritis or post-surgical spine rehabilitation. The weightless environment also benefits patients with disk problems.

Muscle Energy Technique
Uses the body’s muscles to restore symmetry and normal mobility to the spine and pelvis.

Craniosacral Therapy
Re-establishes balance within the cranial sacral system, which involves the spine and sacral areas of the body.

Strain/Counter Strain
relieves spine or joint pain using the body’s muscle system.

 
Work Conditioning
A program that facilitates the safe return to work for people injured on the job.

Education
Spine Care Team members provide education focusing on the areas of anatomy, biomechanics of the spine, proper posture and correct performance of daily activities. The education helps patients prevent re-injury and empowers them to manage their lifestyle.

 

Insurance Information
A physician referral is required for Spine Rehabilitation services. Most major insurance providers cover Spine Rehabilitation services.
