Southwest General Sports Medicine

Expert Care for Athletes

Southwest General Sports Medicine offers expert care for athletes of all ages and skill levels, from weekend warriors to serious athletes.

Located at the LifeWorks of Southwest General fitness facility, SportsWest features the most up-to-date rehabilitation and aerobic equipment, including a warm-water pool for aquatic therapy.

Sports Medicine services focus on:
• Injury prevention education
• Strength training and conditioning
• Treatment and rehabilitation of injuries

Our team members include certified athletic trainers and experienced physical therapists. They work closely with skilled, board-certified orthopedic surgeons and other physicians on the Medical Staff of Southwest General. These physicians diagnose injuries and recommend the best treatment and rehabilitation options for athletes.

Once a physician has referred an athlete for treatment, Sports Medicine team members create a personalized program to meet the athlete’s individual needs and return the athlete to optimum health and performance as safely and quickly as possible.

Helping High School Athletes
Southwest General Sports Medicine provides expert care and attention to students at many local high schools including Berea High School, Columbia High School, Midpark High School, North Royalton High School, Olmsted Falls High School and Strongsville High School, as well Albion Middle School.

A certified athletic trainer is assigned to each school and is on site to help with practices and games and to foster cooperation among coaches, physicians, physical therapists and others involved with athletes.

If an athletic injury requires evaluation, Southwest General Sports Medicine physicians assure that the athlete is seen quickly and monitor the athlete’s condition to help coaches make decisions about the athlete’s participation in practices and games. Sports Medicine trainers and physicians also are available to speak with parents who are encouraged to call to discuss their athlete’s training or medical condition.
