Community Services

More Than a Hospital, We Are a Community

Southwest General was founded in 1920 by residents of the surrounding communities who wanted access to health care services close to home. Since that time, Southwest General has had a strong history of partnership with individuals and organizations in the community and remains deeply committed to improving the health and well-being of community residents.

Community Services Offered by Southwest General

Providing high-quality and compassionate health care is an important part of Southwest General’s mission. In addition to award-winning clinical care, we provide a variety of Community Services as well as many Community Benefit Programs to promote health and wellness and to serve those in greatest need. We are proud of this support, and we will continue to reach out to residents, regardless of their ability to pay.

Some of the Community Service programs we provide include:

  • Community Nurses – Health screenings and education in convenient neighborhood locations
  • C.O.O.L. Kids – Treatments and rehabilitation services for children with mental or physical challenges
  • Medication Disposal – Designed to help residents in selected communities safely dispose of unused medications, preventing them from entering the environment and/or falling into the wrong hands.
  • ParkFit Mall Walkers Club – This club offers an enclosed, air-conditioned space for members to walk and fight cardiovascular disease.
  • Domestic Violence Services – We provide victims of domestic violence with a safe space to receive treatment and document their injuries.
