With a heightened number of individuals being treated throughout Ohio with influenza and influenza-like illnesses, beginning Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, Southwest General will modify its patient/visitor policy to minimize the spread of the influenza virus within the hospital. We ask that you adhere to the following policy when visiting a patient at Southwest General.

PLEASE ADHERE TO THE FOLLOWING RESTRICTIONS:

  • Must be 18 years or older
     
  • Two visitors at a time in patient rooms or procedural areas. (In Labor and Delivery as well as Postpartum, dad is not considered a visitor)
     
  • Please keep visitation periods brief
     
  • No visitation if you are ill or experiencing any of the following symptoms:
    • Fever, cough, chills, sore throat, headache, muscle aches or diarrhea
       
  • Visiting hours are as follows:
    • Medical/Surgical, Critical Care Unit and Maternity: 11 a.m.–8 p.m.
    • Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit:  11 a.m.–noon and 6–8 p.m.
    • Oakview Behavioral Health Center:  6–8 p.m.
       
  • Please wash or sanitize your hands:
    • Upon entering and exiting all rooms and areas
    • After coughing or sneezing

Additionally, a highly qualified team of board-certified emergency care physicians, nurses and specially trained staff are available to care for patients with medical emergencies at both of the following locations:

You must be 18 years or older to receive a flu shot. Most insurances, including Medicare Part B, accepted. No appointments needed. Available while supplies last.
