A Highly Skilled Cardiovascular Team

The medical professionals providing cardiovascular care at Southwest General include highly trained Surgeons, Cardiologists and Cardiovascular Clinicians who provide a range of invasive and non-invasive services to address the prevention, diagnosis and state-of-the-art treatment of diseases and conditions affecting the heart.

Invasive Programs and Procedures

The Invasive and Minimally Invasive areas identified below feature the latest in medical procedures and technology and address a variety of heart and vascular conditions.  They include:  

  • Heart Catheterization Laboratory. Where diagnostic procedures are performed in l to determine the extent of disease present in the vascular system.
  • Electrophysiology. Tests and procedures to study and rectify the electrical activity and pathways of the heart.
  • Peripheral Vascular Procedures. Tests and procedures to diagnose and treat any disorder of the circulatory system that is outside of the brain and heart. 
  • Open-Heart Surgery. Open heart surgery is any surgery where the chest is opened and surgery is done on the heart muscle, valves, arteries, or other parts of the heart. 
  • Vascular Surgery. Surgery performed to diagnose and repair damaged or diseased blood vessels, arteries and veins.

Non-Invasive Program and Procedures

The following procedures involve state-of-the-art technologies and approaches to obtain data essential to performing specific cardiovascular procedures.  They include:

  • Examinations and Tests. Diagnostic procedures used to determine a particular condition to make a diagnosis that do not involve surgical incisions or injections.
  • Vascular Laboratory. Where noninvasive testing using Doppler ultrasound techniques are conducted to view the various venous and arterial structures.
  • Other Programs and Services.  Includes various assessments, diagnostic imaging and laboratory approaches to diagnose cardiac or vascular related conditions.
