State-of-the-art imaging for accurate, timely, diagnosis and treatment

Southwest General’s Radiology Department provides a full array of imaging procedures to support accurate, timely diagnosis and treatment. State-of-the-art facilities and technology allow for a wide variety of services, from basic x-ray studies to sophisticated, real-time imaging of the heart. Services include:

  • Mammography -- digital mammography is available at all Southwest General locations and 3-D digital mammography (Tomosynthesis) is available at the Breast Center on the Main Campus.
  • X-rays
  • MRI - including 64-slice and High-Field Open MRI
  • CT scanning
  • Interventional radiology
  • Nuclear medicine
  • Ultrasound
  • Bone densitometry (DEXA)
  • Fluoroscopy
  • PET Scan


Please note: A physician order is required for all radiology procedures

At Southwest General, imaging studies are performd by radiologists who are board certified by the American College of Radiology. They are supported by radiologic technologists, who are certified by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists and work in concert with our radiologists, helping to properly position patients for imaging studies and operate imaging equipment.

Accreditations

Southwest General is fully accredited by the American College of Radiology in Breast Ultrasound, CT, Mammography, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Stereotactic Breast Biopsy and Ultrasound. We have also been recognized as an Image Gently supporter, for our commitment to using safe radiation protocol for pediatric CT imaging.

Additionally, Southwest General has been earned Breast Imaging Center of Excellence status from the American college of Radiology.
