A Note of Thanks from a Happy Heart
Following is a remarkable letter written by Mrs. Donna Tumlin, the wife of one of our patients. The letter was sent to Thomas A. Selden, FACHE, president and CEO of Southwest General. Each day, we work to meet the special needs of each and every patient, so that all our families are as pleased with their care as the Tumlins were.
Dear Mr. Thomas Selden,
My sweet husband, Tom Tumlin, was informed by our family doctor on June 3, 2009, that Tom needed to see a neurosurgeon because his MRI showed a large brain tumor on his right side—Tom was eventually diagnosed with a glioma, the same diagnosis as Sen. Ted Kennedy. After initial surgery, a move to Acute Rehab was recommended. I requested that Tom be transferred to Southwest General.
I have been blessed with the most efficient, compassionate people I have ever met in Acute Rehab. Each and every one working with Tom has been wonderful. I have never seen such dedication to a job. Dr. Usharani Tandra is truly an angel in disguise! I was here eleven hours every day and watched as Kayla, Karen, Debbie, Lisa, Jen, Linda and Sherry took constant care of Tom. Valerie, M.J., Nadine, Sondra and Summer were constantly aware of his needs. Liz, how dear; Kathy, social worker, working hard to get everything we needed. Sweet Angela from housekeeping—so caring! I cannot even think of enough positive adjectives for your Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy. Terry, Chris, Christine, Linda and Stephanie are absolutely the best in everything they do for their patients and the patients’ families.
You should be very proud of the people who represent Southwest General. I have been shown great kindness from your cleaning staff, volunteers, Sunshine Deli and kitchen staff. I do not want to forget your big guns—Drs. Warren, Rogers, Saboori, Suresh Mahajan and Munjapara.
You know a lot of people around you are doing something right, because it shows!!!
Thank you from my happy heart,
Mrs. Dona Tumlin
