Southwest General Awards Cleveland-based Albert M. Higley Company With Multi-Phase Master Facility Construction Project

Middleburg Heights, OH (Dec. 13, 2011) – Southwest General announced the appointment of the construction management contract for its Master Facility Plan project to The Albert M. Higley Co., LLC, based in Cleveland, Ohio.

The project represents a $128 million reinvestment in the Southwest General Main Campus in Middleburg Heights, Ohio.  Phase One of the project includes the creation of a new, expanded Emergency Department, and development of a new critical care unit and a patient parking structure on the north side of the Main Campus. Phase One construction is anticipated to commence in May 2012 and accounts for $66 million of the total cost.

Phase Two will include the creation of a new patient bed tower with 100 private medical/surgical patient rooms, and creation of a new main entrance for the hospital.

“The Albert M. Higley Company was awarded the contract from among a highly qualified group of construction management firms,” stated Thomas A. Selden, FACHE, president and CEO of Southwest General. “Their strong proposal and history of meeting construction timelines and budgets, along with their knowledge of the subterranean infrastructure, were determining factors in their appointment. We are pleased to have them on board to begin the next phase in the project’s development.”
