Southwest General Outpatient Services Update

During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Southwest General is continuing to provide safe, quality care for the communities we serve. We are following all current guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and prevention (CDC) and the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) to keep both patients and staff safe so that we can provide the quality care and attention you need. We encourage you not to delay seeking the care you need to maintain your health and wellness.

Following is an update on service access at Southwest General:

Emergency Care

The Southwest General Emergency Rooms on our Main Campus and at the Brunswick Medical Center are open, safe and ready to care for you. We encourage you to seek care immediately if you have a medical emergency. For serious injuries or urgent symptoms, such as chest pain, difficulty breathing or signs of a stroke, call 911 immediately or go to the emergency room. Don’t delay, as waiting to seek care can be life-threatening or cause permanent damage to your health.

Physician Appointments

Our Southwest General Medical Group (SGMG) physicians are seeing patients in person and via telehealth (video visits and telephone visits). We encourage you to make an appointment with your physician for the care you need to maintain your health and wellness. If you have medical questions or concerns or if you need preventive care, such as a mammogram or immunizations, contact your physician’s office today for an appointment, or call our Health Connection at 440-816-5050 for a physician referral.

With the rise of COVID-19 cases in Ohio, we are currently experiencing a high volume of hospitalized COVID-19 patients. To accommodate the increase in COVID-19 patients requiring hospitalization, we have taken the following steps:

  • All nonessential surgeries requiring an inpatient stay are currently being postponed
  • Emergency and other essential surgeries will continue
  • Outpatient surgeries will continue
  • Our ambulatory surgery centers (the Surgery Center of Southwest General and Big Creek Surgery Center) will remain open with no change in service

If you have questions about scheduling a surgical procedure, or for help scheduling an outpatient surgery or procedure, call our centralized scheduling department at 440-816-8605.
