Dysphagia Management

A swallowing disorder, known as dysphagia, may occur as a result of various medical conditions. Dysphagia is defined as problems involving the oral cavity, pharynx, esophagus, or gastroesophageal junction.

Malnutrition and dehydration, aspiration pneumonia, compromised general health, chronic lung disease, choking, may be consequences of dysphagia.

Dysphagia management is provided to patients whose swallowing has been impaired by a brain injury or oral cancer. The focus of this treatment is to improve the strength and movement of the muscles needs to swallow safely for proper nutrition and hydration.
