NorthCoast 99 award recipient for the twelfth time. This designation, given by the Employer’s Resource Council, recognizes the 99 best places to work in Northeast Ohio.
US News MOST CONNECTED HOSPITAL
Southwest General has been recognized as one of the most connected hospitals for 2015-16 by U.S. News & World Report. The U.S. News Most Connected Hospitals list recognizes hospitals whose excellence in patient safety, patient engagement and clinical connectedness improves patient care.
United Health Care UNITEDHEALTHCARE PATH AWARD
Southwest General Medical Group, Inc., recently received the 2014 UnitedHealthcare PATH Excellence in Patient Service Award. The PATH program was developed by UnitedHealthcare to help improve outcomes for its Medicare Advantage members by encouraging greater use of preventive health care services. The PATH Excellence in Service Award is based on clinical results that measure how successfully practices have closed gaps in patient care.

Southwest General was named, for a sixth consecutive year, to “The Plain Dealer Top Workplaces” list of the best places to work in Northeast Ohio.

Designed to rate how well hospitals protect patients from accidents, errors, injuries and infections, The Leapfrog Group’s fall 2015 Hospital Safety Score Report again honored Southwest General with an ‘A’—its top grade in patient safety. The Hospital Safety Score Report is compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading experts on patient safety and is administered by The Leapfrog Group, an independent industry watchdog.

Southwest General has been named a 2014 Top Performer on Key Quality Measures by The Joint Commission—the leading accreditor of health care organizations in America. Southwest General was recognized as part of The Joint Commission’s 2015 annual report “America’s Hospitals: Improving Quality and Safety,” for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, stroke, perinatal care. The hospital is one of only 1,043 hospitals out of more than 3,300 eligible hospitals in the U.S. to achieve the 2014 Top Performer distinction.
American college of cardiology AMERICAN COLLEGE OF CARDIOLOGY’S PLATIUM PERFORMANCE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
The award, given to only 319 hospitals nationwide, recognizes high standards in heart attack care and the ability of Southwest General to reach aggressive clinical guidelines and recommendations as outlined by the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association.

Additionally, Southwest General is certified by The Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center and also has been awarded The Joint Commission Heart Failure Certification.

Southwest General has been named to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) list of the 97 health care facilities where patients tended to have the lowest rate of complications following joint replacement surgery.

University Hospitals (UH) Seidman Cancer Center at Southwest General, received “Three Year Accreditation with Commendation–Silver Rating” by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons in 2014.
