To meet the needs of this specific patient audience, Southwest General now offers a monthly Amputation Support Group. This support group is an important part of the recovery process and provides an atmosphere for continual learning and support. It is an invaluable resource for amputees, regardless of the time since amputation.
Attendees meet with other amputees and hear their life-changing stories and offer support. A new speaker is featured each month, discussing a wide variety of topics, from the latest in orthotic choices to dealing with the physical limitations and coping mechanisms. We welcome family members and significant others of amputees as well.
