Cigna Managed Care Update

Southwest General Medical Group, Inc. (SGMG), Southwest Family Physicians and Southwest General Health Center have reached a mutual agreement with Cigna Health Plan and will remain in network for Cigna members.

Patients do not need to take any action. Appointments and scheduled services will continue as planned.

A. No. Hospital-based (facility) services will continue to remain in network for Cigna members. There are no changes to hospital services.

Q. What is the difference between provider services and hospital (facility) services?

A.

  • Provider (professional) services include care delivered by physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other clinicians through Southwest General Medical Group, Inc., and Southwest Family Physicians.
  • Hospital (facility) services include services provided by the hospital itself, such as emergency care, inpatient stays, imaging, lab services, surgery facilities and hospital-based departments.

Both provider and hospital services remain in network for Cigna members.

Q. What does this mean for my care?

A. There is no change to your care.

You may continue seeing your current Southwest General provider without interruption. Appointments, procedures and ongoing treatment plans will continue as scheduled.

Q. What if I already have a procedure or surgery scheduled?
