The cardiopulmonary team includes physicians, cardiac technicians, nurses, respiratory therapists and other medical professionals that work together to create an individualized, comprehensive treatment plan for patients.

Cardiopulmonary Testing

One of the first steps in diagnosing a lung disorder is undergoing cardiopulmonary testing. These tests measure your lung and heart function to find abnormalities that indicate the cause of your difficulty breathing.

Your doctor may recommend any of the following cardiopulmonary tests to diagnose your condition:

  • Echocardiograms
  • Electrocardiograms
  • Arterial blood gas
  • Cardiac stress tests
  • Event monitors
  • Holter monitors
  • King of Hearts monitors
  • Pulmonary function tests

Most patients only require one or two tests for the doctor to make a diagnosis. The test recommended for you will depend on the symptoms of your condition and overall health status.
