Southwest General and Aetna Reach Agreement, Ensuring Continued In-Network Access for Patients

  • Posted On:

Southwest General announced today that it has reached an agreement with Aetna regarding a new contract, ensuring that the hospital will remain an in-network provider for patients with Aetna Commercial and Medicare Advantage plans.

The negotiations, which began in good faith, were prompted by the expiration of the previous contract on Sept. 30, 2025. This agreement, effective Oct. 1, 2025, resolves the issue and prevents any disruption in care or change in out-of-pocket costs for Aetna members who receive care at Southwest General.

“At Southwest General, we are dedicated to delivering high-quality, compassionate care close to home,” said William A. Young, Jr., president and chief executive officer, Southwest General. “A key part of this commitment includes working with health insurance providers to ensure our agreements meet the needs of our patients and community. Reviewing our contracts is a crucial part of this process, and we are pleased to have reached an agreement with Aetna that accomplishes these goals and avoids any disruption for our patients.”

Southwest General remains committed to its mission of providing exceptional healthcare to the communities it serves and will continue to work collaboratively with all insurance providers to ensure seamless access to care for its patients.
