Sleep Center

A Leading Resource for Diagnosing and Treating Sleep Disorders

Sleep has a significant impact on your overall health and sleep disorders can be serious. Left untreated, they can cause a variety of health problems including:

  • Heart disease
  • High blood pressure
  • Stroke

Despite the widespread existence of sleep disorders in the United States, only a portion of those that need treatment seek medical attention. Even if you stay asleep throughout the night, if you regularly feel tired and sluggish throughout the day, it could mean that something is impeding your ability to sleep peacefully.

Southwest General’s Sleep Center diagnoses and treats sleep disorders, providing:

  • High quality patient-centered care
  • State-of-the-art comprehensive sleep studies and evaluations
  • Modern and tranquil facilities
  • Treatment options focused on individual patient needs
  • Highly successful outcomes

Southwest General’s Sleep Testing Service

Led by Dr. Babu M. Eapen, board-certified in sleep disorders and pulmonary and critical care medicine, our experienced, sleep care team provides high-quality care, compassionate care for sleep disorders to help you resume a normal sleep schedule.

One of the first steps in treating a sleep disorder is conducting a sleep study. Within the secure facilities of Southwest General, sleep studies are conducted by highly skilled technicians in a soothing environment designed to promote a restful night’s sleep. Digital, state-of-the-art equipment monitors sleep patterns, including brainwaves, breathing, oxygen level, heartbeat, muscle movement and any abnormal events during a patient’s sleep. This information is recorded and charted for analysis and is used to determine an appropriate treatment regimen. It also is shared with a patient’s primary care physician for follow-up.

Some of the more than 80 sleep disorders treated include:

  • Sleep apnea
  • Insomnia
  • Narcolepsy
  • Restless Leg Syndrome
  • Nightmares
  • Sleep terrors

Southwest General provides sleep disorder treatment for patients in Lorain, Cuyahoga and Medina counties. To receive a sleep study evaluation, patients must be referred by their physician. To make an appointment, or for more information about our Sleep Center, please call 440-816-6030.
