Outside of pharmacy, Kelly enjoys reading and watching movies, with a goal of reading at least 15 books and watching at least 100 movies each year. She also enjoys hiking, gardening, baking, and spending time with her husband and their two dogs and one cat.

Why I Chose Southwest General

I chose Southwest because of the strong integration of pharmacy within the emergency department and the opportunity to practice at the top of my license. I was drawn to the way pharmacists are actively involved in patient care through clinical recommendations and progressive collaborative practice agreements. I am hoping to continue building my clinical knowledge and confidence, allowing me to independently manage acute clinical situations and serve as a trusted member of the ED team. I am particularly interested in pediatric emergency medicine, resuscitation, and critical care, and Southwest has arranged on-site and off-site rotations within these areas, allowing me to gain valuable experiences that I can carry into my future practice.

Why I Chose Southwest General

I chose Southwest because of the welcoming and supportive environment I experienced during the open houses and my interview as well as the opportunity to train in a program that provides a variety of clinical experiences while offering individualized mentorship. I was especially drawn to the close relationships between pharmacists, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team. Through my residency, I hope to strengthen my clinical knowledge and critical thinking skills while becoming a more confident and independent pharmacist. I also hope to gain diverse experiences that will prepare me to manage complex patient care situations and collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals. Following residency, I hope to pursue a clinical pharmacist position where I can provide direct patient care and work closely with an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
