Southwest General Medical Group, Inc. (SGMG) is currently in active negotiations with Cigna Health Plan regarding the renewal of its professional services agreement. These discussions are limited to SGMG only and does not impact hospital-based services at Southwest General Health Center. The current agreement remains in effect through March 2, 2026. Additional information will be shared as it becomes available.
Q. Did Southwest General and Cigna reach an agreement?
A. No. Cigna and Southwest General Medical Group, Inc., are in the process of finalizing a new, multi-year network participation agreement. Both parties are working in good faith to finalize a renewed agreement by March 2, 2026.
Q. Are hospital and physician services at risk of being out of network?
A. No. The negotiation includes Southwest General Medical Group, Inc., only. Cigna members will still have access to hospital-based services provided at Southwest General Health Center.
Q. What does this mean for my care?
A. If a new agreement has not been reached by March 2, 2026, services provided by Southwest General Medical Group, Inc., will be billed as out of network. You will still have coverage and be able to receive care at Southwest General Health Center on an in-network basis.
Q. How will this affect my costs?
A. Your out-of-pocket costs may increase for services offered by Southwest General Medical Group, Inc. Hospital charges will remain at in-network rates. Contact Cigna Member Services (number on your ID card) to confirm your benefits.
Q. What if I'm in the middle of treatment?
A. You may qualify for Continuity of Care through Cigna for ongoing treatment such as pregnancy, cancer care or scheduled surgery. Contact Cigna Member Services to request this.
