
Becoming a parent can be overwhelming, especially during those first few weeks at home with a new baby. To help during this transition period, Southwest General’s Home Health Services offers a Newborn Home Visit Program.Newborn Home Visits.
After you deliver your baby, a registered nurse from our Home Health Services will stop by your room to discuss the program and see if you are interested and eligible. The following requirements must be met to be eligible for a Newborn Home Visit:
During the visit, a specially trained registered nurse from Southwest General will provide a health and safety assessment of mom and baby as well as support, education and resources, right in the comfort of your home. The assessments include:

During the visit, if anything appears out of line with standard health guidelines and development, our nurse will be in touch with your doctor to make sure that you and/or your newborn receive the necessary care. The visit is a good time for mom to ask any questions she hasn’t had the time (or energy!) to research.
