Pharmacy Practice Residency Program
A Very Engaging Opportunity
A new 12-month Pharmacy Practice Residency Program at Southwest General
offers candidates an exceptional opportunity to broaden their knowledge,
sharpen their skills and gain invaluable real world experience, allowing
them to emerge as leaders in any chosen area of pharmacy practice.
Our Program emphasizes acute care with strengths in infectious disease,
cardiology and internal medicine. To further enrich residents’ experience,
rotations also focus on ambulatory care, transitions of care and surgery
/pain management, plus longitudinal sessions for informatics, quality
assurance and Teaching Certificates.
Additionally, we offer residents a managed care option, partnering with
Medical Mutual of Ohio for program development in the managed care arena.
A Mutually Beneficial Approach
A good, sound program is based on continual feedback and evaluation. We
encourage our residents to provide any comments or suggestions throughout
the year. Periodic evaluations will be conducted on our rotation experiences,
preceptors, program director and residents. Length and type of learning
experiences and elective rotations will be based on the resident’s
strengths, weaknesses and preferences.
Expect Our Competitive Best
Southwest General pharmacy residents can look forward to competitive salaries,
exceptional health benefits and paid time off. Parking is free. Travel
reimbursement for hotel, transportation or mileage, meeting registration
and food also will be provided.
Residents will provide staffing every third weekend and help in the Coumadin
Clinic one half day per week. Occasional presentations to Pharmacy personnel,
Medical Staff, nursing staff or the community also will be required.
