School Health

Our Commitment to Community Health Begins in the School

Southwest General’s School Health Program promotes the importance of healthy children and is designed to help local school districts provide improved health care for students.

Program Scope

The School Health Program provides services to the Berea City School District, which is comprised of the following taxing district communities:

  • Berea
  • Brook Park
  • Middleburg Heights

Professional Nursing Staff

Fully licensed nurses are on hand at each school facility for six hours of every school day. They are experienced professionals, fully committed to providing compassionate, quality care to the children requiring their services.

Helping Students with Variety of Health Care Needs

The services provided to the students range from treating minor health care needs to marshaling resources to make sure more serious conditions are treated quickly.

Services include:

  • First Aid
  • Assistance with medications
  • Control of communicable diseases
  • Conducting state-mandated health screenings
  • 24/7 nursing for 6th graders attending at Camp-Mi-Bro-Be, which runs five consecutive days over five weeks, for all sixth-graders in the district

Care for Children with Special Needs

Together with routine medical needs, our nurses provide individualized care for students with special needs.
