Middleburg Heights, OH (Jan. 20, 2020) – Southwest Community Health System (parent organization of Southwest General Health Center) joins a premier group of organizations that have received Pathway to Excellence® designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Southwest General is one of only seven hospitals in Ohio to achieve Pathway to Excellence designation.

The Pathway designation is a global credential that highlights Southwest General’s commitment to creating a healthy work environment where nurses feel empowered and valued. At Southwest General, nurses are an integral part of the health care team, with a voice in policy and practice. Pathway nurses are engaged, resulting in higher job satisfaction, reduced turnover, improved safety, and better patient outcomes.

“The Pathway to Excellence designation is an outstanding achievement for our nurses and all employees at Southwest General. Everyone can be very proud of this accomplishment,” says William A. Young, Jr., president, and CEO of Southwest General.

As a Pathway organization, Southwest General leads the effort to enhance the quality of care, patient and nursing safety, and the future of health care delivery.

“This prestigious designation validates our commitment to supporting the professional practice of nursing and acknowledges the important contributions of our nurses to ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients,” says Marti Bauschka, MSN, MBA, RN, vice president of Patient Care Services and chief nursing officer at Southwest General.
