Indepedent Insurance Agents

Some of our Anthem Medicare patients have asked us if they need to change their Medicare Advantage Plan. And while we remain hopeful this issue is resolved with Anthem, we understand that patients may not want to wait.

We understand the Medicare Annual Enrollment to switch plans ends on December 7, 2022, and changing a plan can be stressful and this gives you very little time to make a decision. If you don’t already have a trusted advisor or insurance agent to help with your benefits, these companies below and their teams can help you find a similar plan at a similar cost.

After December 7, you still may have options to change. For example, if you move to a five-star plan, you are able to move at any time through December 31, 2022. There is also Open Enrollment where Medicare Advantage patients can change their Advantage plan to another Advantage plan starting January 1 and through March 31. They can only make this change once and the plan takes effect the first of the following month. For example, if Southwest General is out of network on January 1, and you wanted to wait until the last possible moment before switching from Anthem Medicare, you can switch to another plan on January 2, but it will not be effective until February 1. Therefore, the patient could reschedule their test or service until February and be in-network (patients are ALWAYS in-network for emergency care regardless of plan). Same thing if you waited until February 15th to switch—the new plan would be effective March 1. Please speak with a trusted insurance agent for further information.

These groups are independent from Southwest General and no party has received any incentive. Agents may not represent all plans available in your area. Any information provided is limited to those plans these agents do offer in your area. Please contact Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE to get information on all of your options.
